Coaches, please take a few moments before your next game to remind your teams (players and parents) that we expect EVERYONE – players, coaches, and parents – to participate fairly, cleanly and with good sportsmanship:
- rough shoulder checking, slide tackling, pushing / pushing from behind, elbowing and malicious kicking are absolutely forbidden
- shake hands with your opposing team after the game
- keep all comments positive – NO ONE should be making comments like “you suck”, “bad game”, laughing if someone misses the net, etc.
Coaches witnessing poor sportsmanship should pull their player aside and talk to them about their behaviour, and consider “benching” them for an appropriate period of time. (Parents and coaches witnessing unfair play of an OPPOSING player should bring it to the attention of the opposing coach, and not confront the player themselves.)
