Two Registration Options: Recreational Soccer & Competitive Soccer (Cascadia League)

AYSC operates two programs during the Spring season:

  • Recreational Soccer, for players born 2010-2020
  • Competitive Soccer (Cascadia League), for players born 2010-2018

Recreational Soccer has a focus on ‘Fitness & Fun’ and only runs on weeknights (no weekend / traveling games), while the Competitive Soccer program allows players to compete in a more structured league with other local clubs.

AYSC runs player evaluations to assist the Club in determining Cascadia League placements. If your player is interested in participating in Cascadia please register them by February 21 and indicate you want to be considered for a travelling Cascadia team.

See Spring Competitive Soccer (Cascadia League) FAQs for some answers to frequently asked questions about the differences between the two programs.

The cost of the Recreational Soccer program is $175, while the cost of the Competitive Soccer program $350 to cover Club coaches, additional field time, referees, etc.

PLEASE ENSURE YOU COME TO THE FIELD FOR THE CORRECT TIME FOR YOUR AGE GROUP.

Some player shuffling may occur in-game to promote fair play, per BC Soccer guidelines.

NOTE THAT THE SPRING RECREATIONAL PROGRAM ONLY RUNS WEEKNIGHTS – THERE ARE NO SATURDAY GAMES.

Please note the posted start times and have your player at the field at least 10 minutes in advance so we can use the time more efficiently.

The first few weeks of the season provides the Club an opportunity to assess players, recruit additional team leaders / coaches, and set balanced teams and schedules.

During this first part of the season, players will be put into informal “teams” so that our volunteer team leaders, club coaches, and players can all get to know each other; AYSC’s club coaches will be running station-based “skills and drills” with all players and volunteer team leaders / coaches, so that all players have a similar soccer experience.

Players will be assigned a team by mid-April, and a schedule for informal games (sometimes called scrimmages) will be released at that time – the evening / time listed below for your player’s age group will not change.

Higher-Level Training

Cascadia League Rosters Set

Please note that the rosters for AYSC’s 2010-2016 Competitive Soccer (Cascadia League) program have been set.

For questions about the Cascadia program, please email cward@aldergrovesoccer.com.

AYSC’s Competitive Soccer program allows older players to compete in a more structured league with other local clubs called “Cascadia”.

Cascadia teams are considered ‘travelling’ teams, where games may be played at home in Aldergrove and away in nearby communities (Chilliwack, Abbotsford, Mission, Langley). The level of play the team is placed at (based on whatever players register for that age group) may determine the distance you may travel. Division 3 is considered ‘House’ level and games will be played close to Aldergrove as much as possible. Division 1 is considered ‘Rep’ level and is a higher level of competition, and teams at this level may have to travel a little bit further to be able to play teams with a matching skill set.

Age brackets for the Cascadia program are singular and based on players’ intake year for the Fall 2024 season.

Cascadia teams will train during the week and then play a game on the weekend.

Players in the Competitive Soccer (Cascadia League) program have been contacted directly by their Coaches regarding season information.

  • U14 Intake Boys (born 2012) 7:00 pm – 8:30 pm
  • U16 Boys (born 2009) 7:00 – 8:30 pm

  • U11 Boys (born 2014) 5:45 pm – 6:45 pm
  • U13 Boys (born 2013) 7:00 pm – 8:30 pm

For questions about the Cascadia program, please email cward@aldergrovesoccer.com.

Spring Season FAQs

The Spring season starts in April and goes to the end of June.

Both the Recreational and Competitive programs are run on the turf fields at Aldergrove Athletic Park, 27 Ave. and 269 St. behind Betty Gilbert Middle School (view Google map). Competitive Program Saturday games may be played at home in Aldergrove and away in nearby communities (Chilliwack, Abbotsford, Mission, Langley).

Games are played regardless of the degree of rain. However, fields are sometimes closed by the Township of Langley due to too much water on the field. In the event of snow on the field, all games will be cancelled. If the fields are deemed unplayable, the Club will email all members as soon as the decision is known.

Your fees pay for:

  • BC Soccer fees
  • insurance
  • Township of Langley field charges for all-weather and grass fields
  • referees and linespersons
  • a t-shirt
  • equipment (balls, cones, and nets)
  • field maintenance
  • player clinics
  • general Club operating costs (accounting, advertising, printing etc.)

Players need cleats or runners, shin guards, and a water bottle (not provided). AYSC operates a free soccer boot exchange at Aldergrove Athletic Park (Rubbermaid bins in the large container). If you need boots, check to see if there are a pair that will fit your player. If you have used boots to exchange or donate, please put them in a Rubbermaid bin on any session day.

The Government of Canada eliminated the Children’s Fitness Tax Credit in 2017. AYSC no longer provides tax receipts; if you pay by credit card when registering online, you will receive an electronic receipt upon submission.

See Refund Policy for complete refund policy details.

Volunteer Team Leaders / Assistant Leaders Needed

PLEASE NOTE THAT WE REQUIRE VOLUNTEER TEAM LEADERS / ASSISTANT LEADERS. As work schedules and illness sometimes prevent volunteers from being available, we aim to have a minimum of two Team Leaders for every team, to ensure continuity of direction for the players. One of the biggest challenges we have in organizing the season is that not enough volunteers step forward early enough. WE CANNOT CREATE TEAMS OR SCHEDULES UNTIL WE HAVE VOLUNTEER TEAM LEADERS, IT IS AS SIMPLE AS THAT.

Please indicate on the form when registering if you are willing to volunteer.
