To our AYSC community,
It is with very heavy hearts that we share the devastating news that Will Wildeboer, a longtime AYSC volunteer coach, passed away on September 19, 2025. Our thoughts are with his wife Marcia, his four young children, and his extended family and friends.
Will was a dedicated volunteer coach who had a tremendous impact on many players throughout his six years of coaching with the club, and he will truly be missed. Obviously, this is a challenging time for his family – including his brother Keith Wildeboer, another longtime AYSC volunteer coach – and a shock for the AYSC community.
AYSC is a smaller, community-driven club, and we are fortunate that we often form close connections within our membership. As a result, we recognize that Will’s passing may affect a large number of people as many coaches, players, and families had the privilege of knowing Will.
We ask that parents / guardians please share this news with your soccer player(s) if they knew Will, as you are best suited to help them process the news and assist them with navigating their emotions. Please reach out to us if there is anything we can do to help support you during this difficult time.
Many of our players are fortunate to have known and / or been coached by Will for many seasons, and they benefited from the passion, expertise, and support he consistently provided them. He worked very hard to get the best out of kids and was skilled at teaching them solid technical and tactical skills.
The AYSC Executive and Club Coach staff will greatly miss the chats we would have about soccer with Will, as his passion for the game and love of coaching were evident in every conversation. He loved being on the field with the players and supporting them to develop their skills. Will was always a friendly presence around our Club as he greeted everyone kindly and offered to help in any way he could, from sharing his knowledge to helping collect equipment.
We hope you can understand the importance of ensuring soccer remains a place where Will’s two sons can continue to enjoy playing and being with their AYSC teammates.
We are confident that as a community we can work together to quietly support Will’s family and friends as they cope with this tremendous loss.
AYSC will be looking to honour Will, and the spirit of passionate volunteer coaching that he embodied, in a more formal way in the coming days.
Sincerely,
AYSC Executive
