We’ve had record registration for AYSC’s 2021 Spring soccer season and AYSC’s leadership team has been working hard to organize the start of the season.
(Ever wonder what goes into creating a youth sports league schedule? See How Developmental Schedules Get Created.)
Last week we were informed by the Township of Langley that we were required to submit their new COVID-19 Safety Plan template. We are still awaiting approval (as well as signed field contracts) and may need to postpone Wednesday’s activities. We will send an update via email by Tuesday afternoon.
NOTE THAT ALL ACTIVITIES SCHEDULED FOR MONDAYS DO NOT START UNTIL APRIL 5 (EASTER MONDAY).

COVID-19 Protocols
AYSC’s COVID-19 Player Check-In / COVID-19 Screening Questionnaire must be completed before EVERY training session before players come to the field.
Please see https://www.aldergrovesoccer.com/covid19/ for AYSC’s COVID-19 protocols. Further information will be provided once the Township of Langley approves the updated COVID-19 Safety Plan.
U8-U12 – Confirm Training Options
We have a number of U8-U12 players who have not yet confirmed their interest in optional training for the season. If you have not yet submitted your preferences, PLEASE ENSURE YOU HAVE CONFIRMED YOUR SELECTION BY 5:00 PM ON MONDAY MARCH 29 at https://www.aldergrovesoccer.com/register/spring/training/.
Volunteer Team Leaders / Assistant Leaders Still Needed!
PLEASE NOTE THAT WE STILL REQUIRE SEVERAL VOLUNTEER TEAM LEADERS / ASSISTANT LEADERS. Please contact bhunter@aldergrovesoccer.com ASAP if you would be willing to volunteer.
Parents, this is a great opportunity for you to be involved in your child’s soccer experience, resulting in a fun and rewarding experience for both you and your child! Playing an active role with your child’s soccer does not require specific training or experience. Club coaches will provide support in the planning of activities, communication with families, and be available to assist as needed on the field as you develop your own unique leadership skills.
At our younger age groups, the main focus is creating a fun and friendly environment with the aim of developing a love for the sport. The sessions are centered around learning individual skills through a variety of activities rather than teaching team concepts.
The position requires:
- A willingness to engage with children in a fun and positive manner
- Encouraging players and being a positive role model
- Helping keep players focused and engaged with the activities
- Organizing and directing players on the field
We have found over the years that increased parental assistance at this young age results in a successful soccer season with happy players. Some feedback from our current and former team leaders about their time coaching their children is that experience was rewarding and beneficial for both themselves and their child.
Please seriously consider helping with your child’s team as we feel your presence will benefit many. Contact Brian Hunter at bhunter@aldergrovesoccer.com or 604-761-8824.
