AT PRESENT AYSC HAS ONLY THREE VOLUNTEER COACHES AT THE U7/U8 LEVEL FOR NEARLY 70 REGISTERED PLAYERS. WE REQUIRE ANOTHER 10-12 VOLUNTEERS BEFORE WE ARE ABLE TO CREATE TEAMS AND SCHEDULES FOR THIS AGE GROUP.
As work schedules and illness sometimes prevent volunteers from being available, we aim to have a minimum of two volunteers for every team, to ensure continuity of direction for the players.
One of the biggest challenges we have in organizing the season is that not enough volunteers step forward early enough. WE CANNOT CREATE TEAMS OR SCHEDULES UNTIL WE HAVE VOLUNTEER COACHES, IT IS AS SIMPLE AS THAT.
AYSC has historically been a volunteer-driven club. Without enough volunteers, the club may need to look at moving to a fully paid coach model, which would likely double our registration fees.
AYSC Club Coaches provide training and weekly direction for all volunteer coaches. Many feel they do not have enough experience or skill to coach, but the truth is that at the younger ages, the primary responsibility is to help players develop very basic skills (dribbling, shooting, passing etc.) and ensure they have FUN!
New this year, parents / guardians who step forward to volunteer as a coach or assistant coach will be offered a $50 registration fee rebate once the season starts in September. Parents / guardians who volunteer with more than one team (age group) will receive a $50 rebate for each team they are assigned to.
