Last Week of AYSC Activities Before Holiday Break

Holiday Break After December 17

This week will be AYSC’s final week before we break for the holidays, with our last games played December 17. We encourage all players, Team Leaders, Coaches and parents to get into the festive mood by wearing something Christmas-ish on Saturday – hair ribbons, face paint, a tacky Christmas sweater or Onesie, Santa hat, reindeer antlers – however the holiday spirit moves you!

Monday December 12 will be our last session for Fall Academy – see below for Winter Academy registration details.

December 17 will also mark the end of the season for our U5/U6’s, though AYSC will offer optional training for U5/U6 players if there is enough interest (see below).

A reminder that all this week we are supporting the Aldergrove Food Bank – please bring a donation of non-perishable food or an unwrapped gift to your practice / game if you are able. Items can be left on the tables under the blue AYSC tent between the turf fields.

All U7/U8 to U13 activities are set to resume starting Tuesday January 3, 2022.

Christmas Light Up Parade

Thanks to all who participated in AYSC’s float in the Aldergrove Christmas Light Up Parade, and to AYSC VP Matt Torgerson of Clutter Guys for decorating the truck and trailer! The Club had a great turnout of players, coaches and parents, and an enthusiastic crowd who braved the light rain as the parade made its way down Fraser Hwy.

Soccer for Life Coaching Course – Thank You Team Leaders / Coaches!

AYSC held a Soccer for Life coaching course this past Thursday evening, with many of our volunteers coming out for the three-hour session to improve their soccer knowledge and skills. We are grateful for all of the time our volunteers put in to help running the Club – without you, soccer could not exist in Aldergrove.

The course also provided an opportunity for the Club to present one of our referees (Clare) with a gift of gloves and a toque, which the rest of our referees received this past weekend – much-needed on a cold and wet soccer day.

Joel Waterman Returns from World Cup of Soccer

Former AYSC player Joel has recently returned from the World Cup of Soccer in Qatar. Joel was a member of Canada’s National Team and will be visiting AYSC’s training sessions on Wednesday evening December 14 to meet with players and coaches. If you have something you would like Joel to sign please bring it; he will also be available to take photos. Joel’s Canada Jersey is being placed in the Aldergrove Community Secondary School Athletic Wall of Fame Monday morning.

Registration Open for Optional Winter Training Sessions

Online registration for optional Winter training sessions is now open. The sessions will start in January and take place on the turf fields at Aldergrove Athletic Park, and will be run by our Club coaches.

AYSC’s Academy sessions provide optional training sessions on Monday evenings for U7-U10 players who are looking to strengthen their soccer skills. AYSC will also offer optional training for U5/U6 players if there is enough interest.

REGISTRATION CLOSES DECEMBER 31, 2022. See https://www.aldergrovesoccer.com/2022/12/06/register-for-optional-developmental-winter-2023-training/ to learn more.
