Cancellation of AYSC Spring 2020 Season

With the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic, and uncertainty on when we all might be able to return to the pitch, AYSC has made the difficult decision to cancel our Spring 2020 season.

We hope to process all refunds within the next week.

AYSC is still hopeful that we will be able to offer some sort of soccer activities to our community in late Spring, or possibly during the Summer, once it is completely safe to do so.

AYSC Fall 2020 Season Registration

Registration for AYSC’s Fall 2020 season typically starts in April and runs until June 15 (U11-U18) / July 15 (U5-U10). We plan on providing information on Fall registration in the coming weeks – thank you for your patience and understanding as we navigate these uncertain times with you.

Team Leaders / Coaches – Free Sport for Life Courses

AYSC is a volunteer-driven club. Whenever soccer does return, AYSC is always looking for parents / guardians to step forward to lead teams – without enough volunteers, our programs cannot operate.

If you have been an AYSC Team Leader / Coach in the past, and / or are considering volunteering next season, and are looking to keep your mind active during these challenging times, AYSC’s partner Sport for Life offers self-paced online courses designed to help you improve your coaching skills:

Introduction to Long-Term Development in Sport and Physical Activity

Introduction to Physical Literacy

AYSC will reimburse you via etransfer for the cost of these courses – simply forward your Sport for Life registration / payment confirmation email to treasurer@aldergrovesoccer.com. Note that Sport for Life is offering a discount of 60% off for the month of April ($9.98 instead of $24.95).

Keep Active with a Soccer Ball!

During these stressful times, it’s important for both kids and adults to stay active – we encourage you to kick the soccer ball around if you can while limiting contact with others outside your immediate family and practicing social distancing.

If you do not have a ball, AYSC is making a supply of “gently used” balls available on a first come, first served basis. Balls can be picked up (one per family please) at:

Cranky’s Bike Shop
2961 272nd Street
https://crankysbikeshop.com/
(please check website for current hours)

The big white bag in front of Cranky’s has smaller size 3 balls for younger players and size 4 and 5 balls for older players. Simply drop by the parking lot and grab a ball – no need to go into the store (though biking is another great way for families to stay responsibly active!).

Our thanks to Cranky’s for partnering with AYSC on this initiative.

Thank You Front Line Workers

AYSC extends our thanks to all front line workers – whether you work in a grocery store or restaurant that is still open and providing food for our community, or are a first responder or health care worker, or are involved in other essential services or are volunteering in some way during the pandemic – our heartfelt thanks.

Stay Safe

Please stay safe. Together we will eliminate the COVID-19 threat, and come out of this stronger and more resilient.
