Joel Waterman, an Aldergrove resident, former AYSC player, and graduate from Aldergrove Community Secondary School in 2014, will be playing against the Vancouver Whitecaps at BC Place Stadium on July 24. Waterman currently plays for Calgary’s Cavalry FC, a team in the new professional-level Canadian Premier League (CPL). Cavalry FC won the right to play the Whitecaps, part of the Canadian Championship (separate to CPL league play). The winner of the Canadian Championship earns a berth in CONCACAF Champion’s League.
2019 marks the CPL’s inaugural season, which started in April with 7 Canadian teams from coast to coast.
Waterman helped coach Aldergrove’s U14 Boys team this past Fall season, helping the AYSC squad to become District and League Champions for 2018/2019.
