After an amazing 12 wins, 0 losses, and 2 ties in the regular season, Aldergrove’s U14 Boys team AYSC United went into their Cup Final game also undefeated (3-0) in the playoffs.
The Cup game was 0-0 at halftime, but with 15 minutes left in the game, AYSC striker Travis Campbell scored a great header from a wonderful team effort and buildup that started from the back line to go up 1-0. The team held on until the last minute of extra time when the Killarney Sharks managed to sneak in a last-second goal that momentarily deflated the Aldergrove team.
However, Aldergrove took their winning ways into penalty kicks and managed to take home the victory, with the United keeper (Josh Rozenek) making a brilliant final save to win the game.
The Cup final was a fantastic game to end an amazing couple of seasons, with this win being second straight season that this team has won both the League Championship and the Cup Championship. Congrats to coaches Gus McDonald and Jerry Campbell and the entire team. Well done boys, we’re very proud!
The AYSC United team is looking forward to more challenges next year when they register in the U15 Gold level.
