Fall Season Registration Overview

Players born 1993 through 2006 can register until May 31st 2010, players can register in one of the following 3 ways:

1. Sign and return your pre-printed registration package : Team packages have been handed out as of January 19th.  These packages include one preprinted form for each existing player on the team and should be completed and returned by March 31st 2010
2. Pick up a blank registration form from the Kinsmen Center and mail to the Aldergrove Soccer PO box indicated on the form, or drop off at the Chevron Station at 264th and Fraser Highway.
3. Register online with our ITSportsNet registration service and pay by credit card online or mail a cheque to the club at the address provided

Whichever process is right for you, please read the information on this page to ensure your application is processed as quickly as possible

PLEASE REMEMBER : Registration is not considered complete until payment is received.  The club has to submit payment to the League to be sure insurance coverage is obtained for all players, and player equipment is purchased before the start of the season.  The earlier we receive complete registration forms the earlier we can organize teams and field times.  Equipment is ordered in March of each year.

Registration Fees Summary

The past 2 seasons have seen continued upward cost pressures on the club, but we did not increase fees.  Fee increases this season are due to a number of increasing costs, our main increases are as follows:

-BC Soccer Insurance fee increases;
-Township of Langley field charges for all weather and grass fields;
-Increase in the number of fields booked due to BC Soccer Super 8 mandated changes;
-Referee participation increases (more linesmen);
-Increase in photo costs;
-Increased cost of equipment including uniforms, balls, nets, paint, cones and nets;
-Increase in field maintenance costs;
-Club commitment to improved player clinic offerings;
-General inflationary pressures covering accounting, advertising, printing etc.

Fees have been changed to more accurately reflect the costs incurred by the club in each age group.

Season length
The soccer season varies depending on the age group and the coach.  For U6 through U10, the season is typically as follows:
Start : 2nd or 3rd week of September
Christmas break : 2nd week of December through 2nd week of Jan (approx.)
End : Last week of February or first week of March
Coaches may elect to attend tournaments during thanksgiving or Christmas break but this is up to the individual coach and tournament fees are not included in the registration fee.  The developmental wind-up is usually the first weekend in March.

For U11 and up, the regular season is similar but a team may elect to attend tournaments in August, and cup play may extend into May in some cases.  Your team's coach will make these decisions

Registration Questions and Answers

Q. When will my cheque be cashed?
A. Cheques are to be dated no later than August 1st 2010 and will be cashed on that date or sooner if not post-dated.

Q. How young can I register my child?
A. There are occasions where we accept 4 year olds, but this would depend on ability and size and would have to be approved by the executive.

Q. Once I send a registration form in, is my child guaranteed a spot on a team?
A. No, but we always do our best to place a player.  Teams in U12 and up are limited to 18 players per team, but it is at the discretion of the coach to take the 17th and 18th players.  If there are too many players it impacts the time on the field for other players.  For example, if there are 22 players registered in a division the coach may elect to have try-outs and 4 or more players may not make the team.  In this case there may be an option to have certain players play a division higher, at the discretion of the club.

Q. I've heard about "super 8's", do all U11 and U12 players this year have to play 8 per side or can we select an 11 a side league?
A. No, BC Soccer has mandated super 8 play for all U11 and U12 players this year.  The intent is to increase game involvement for every player and thus improve each player's development compared to 11 a side play.

Q. What happened to the uniform deposit cheque?
A. All players will be receiving a uniform to keep this season so no cheque is necessary.  We have explored the option of purchasing a heavy jersey that would last 3 or 4 seasons or purchasing a lightweight, inexpensive jersey and allowing the players to keep them at the end of the season.  The preference was for the inexpensive jersey and avoiding managing missing jerseys and sorting and fixing jerseys at the end of each season.

Q. Can my child play up a year?
A. There are situations where it is beneficial for a player to play up a level, each situation is reviewed by the coaching staff.  Any decision made is based on benefit to the player, not based on the parent's opinion.

Q. Can my child be sponsored if we cannot afford to pay the fees?
A. Applications for sponsorship can be made through Kidsport BC at this link : http://www.sport.bc.ca/programs/kidSportBC/applyForFunds.asp  Kidsport is a fantastic organization and is Canada wide, if you are a business owner or an individual looking for a worthy cause for your donation, they are always in need of sponsors!  In the event Kidsport funding cannot be obtained the AYSS will consider requests in writing for sponsorship through the club.

Q. When does the season start and end?
A. For U6 through U10, the season is typically as follows:
Start : 2nd or 3rd week of September
Christmas break : 2nd week of December through 2nd week of Jan (approx.)
End : Last week of February or first week of March
For U11 and up, the regular season is similar but a team may elect to attend tournaments in August, and cup play may extend into May in some cases.

Q. Last year we had bad weather and missed a number of games, what can be done to ensure we get a full season?
A. While we cannot control the weather we can attempt to make up missed games throughout the year.  Some divisions play as few as 12 games per year, others play more than 20 games per year.  The number varies based on even or odd team count and cup play rotations.
Each team's manager is responsible for calling other teams and arranging makeup games.  This usually requires either playing 2 games on a Saturday or playing both Saturday and Sunday.  Teams are also encouraged to participate in tournaments to increase their game count.  Each year there are 8 to 10 tournaments in the lower mainland which usually guarantee 3 or 4 games over 2 days.

Spring League Program

Spring soccer is all about fun!  Loosely arranged teams, no stats and no snow!  It's all about the exercise and it's all local.

Kids are grouped into 3 age brackets which will differ each year depending on the number of players registered in each age group.  Each team will have one game per week, no practices, games are once per week and normally on Monday night.  Kids show up with their cleats and shin guards and go play, it tends to feel layed back, similar to a spontaneous schoolyard game, except there are always refs to maintain some order and coaches to ensure line changes are done as needed.

The season is normally from April through the end of June, with a wind up with hot dogs at the end of the year.  Come out and have some fun!  It's a great way for kids to get to know the sport without committing to several days a week.
