A Message from Art:
This season we are going to make a few changes to our opening pregame procedure. This will add a bit of professional flair to our image and reflect the expectations of BC Soccer and indeed FIFA. I will review these changes by email to you. Also please add any pertinent comments to your game reports so that we can track any issues re field conditions, coach/parent dissent, and any unusual circumstances.
The head referee is mainly a resource person for all your refereeing concerns. Please feel free to email me with any questions or comments at artbandenieks@shaw.ca or headref@aldergrovesoccer.com, my phone number is 604.856.1984. As always if you have any significant incidents or red cards given out at a game, let me know. Also if you have any friends thinking of becoming referees tell them to contact me for
further information and dates of upcoming classes.
As a reminder you need to fill out game reports after each game. Online reports are found on this webpage. If you show any red or yellow cards you need to also fill out a report at www.bcsoccer.net/bcsa/ . Click on the “referee” tab on the top of the page. Then click on “discipline” on the lower left side of the ref page. From there you will be guided to the login page, you will need to create a password on your first visit. You then need to fill out the BC Soccer game report and then add an incident report. Keep the description clear
and concise.
Most of your efforts should be done before you leave the game field, record the time of incident, the number of the player(s) involved and what happened including
what was said. Have a team list so that you have player names. Remember to
take the player ID cards if you Red card someone. If you send a coach off keep their card also. After you report an incident on the BC Soccer website you will be directed to send the card to a discipline committee. Check out “referees quick start tutorial” on the login page for a detailed demonstration.
