• Adoption of Constitution and Bylaws of the Association (FVYSA)
• Motion: To revoke the existing FVYSA Constitution and Bylaws in its entirety and replace with the proposed FVYSA Constitution and Bylaws as attached which will come into force and effect immediately upon the membership approval of this motion.
• Adjournment

• to delete the following line from By-Law 13 – Amendments to the By-Laws: “Members wishing to propose an amendment must do so by submitting their proposal in writing to the Secretary no later than March 1st in each year.”

The Special General Meeting will take place before the regularly scheduled monthly meeting of the AYSC Executive on May 15, 2012 at 7:00 pm at the Aldergrove Kinsmen Centre.

One field will be a regulation sized field with covered benches and the latest synthetic turf. We will even have extra parking spaces. The second field is being built on top of the western most gravel field behind Betty Gilbert School. Its width will be standard size but it will be slightly shorter than full size regulation (not too different from Kinsmen and Jackman East Fields.)

To make this happen we have agreed to a 50/50 cost share with the Township of Langley. So far we have raised $135,000, including a generous $30,000 gift from one of our newer soccer families. Parks and Rec have extended us an $83,000 advance to be paid back over 5 years. This is a collaborative effort between Aldergrove Youth Soccer Club and Aldergrove United Soccer Club. Fund raising efforts are still ongoing and we are looking for sponsorships and or donations. Thank you to the Aldergrove Soccer Committee for driving this project forward.

The first night allows the Club to finalize teams, team leaders, meet teammates, etc. and for parents to be provided with an overview of the season. Plan on being there just over half an hour for this first night.

We still need team leaders to step forward for several teams – without team leaders, the kids can’t play!

• 7:15 pm – 2003 and 2002 Girls and Boys

Please come 15 minutes before the time indicated below for your age group, to check in and receive your schedule and t-shirt.

First Evening: The first evening will be Monday April 16. Each age group will meet at different times on the 16th. On this night you will get a t-shirt and a schedule for the season and meet kids in your age group for a short scrimmage. AYSC will send out an email closer to the 16th regarding scheduled times for each age group; you can also check the website closer to the date for this information.

Monday Night Games: Spring Soccer is Monday nights. Teams will have either a 5:45 pm or a 7:00 pm game each Monday. Location is Phillip Jackman Park (Parkside Elementary fields).

Team Leaders Needed: We are in the process of forming teams, but are short team leaders. The Spring program does not really require coaches per se; if you’re pretty sure you’ll be at each game and can call players off / sub players on, you can be a team leader! There are no practices during the Spring program, just games. If you would like to be a team leader please contact the Club’s Registrar at ayscsoccermom@hotmail.com.

Late Registrations: We are still accepting registrations to fill teams. If you have siblings or friends that would like to play, have them download and complete a registration form and drop off their form and payment at the Chevron at 264th and Fraser Highway ASAP.

Cheque Cashing & Receipts: Your checks will be cashed closer to April 16 after the AYSC Treasurer completes our fiscal year end. Receipts will be printed and handed to the team leaders on the 4th or 5th week.

Active Start Soccer Fest Windup: Last day of Spring Soccer is June 18. Players will get a slice of pizza and a juice after their game and will be participating in the Active Start Soccer Fest, Sponsored by the Canadian Soccer Association and their partners.

We are approximately $110,000 short of being able to fund a second turf field. The funds are needed now if the second turf field is to be built, so that we can leverage synergies and cost efficiencies in building both turf fields at the same time.

With extensive lobbying, the Aldergrove soccer community has been able to convince the Township of Langley to consider an optional project to install synthetic turf on one of the existing all weather gravel fields between Betty Gilbert Middle School and Aldergrove Community Secondary School. This slightly smaller second turf field would benefit all members of Aldergrove’s soccer community – youth, school children, and adult players alike – with additional field space that would promote a safe and healthy lifestyle opportunity for everyone.

The Aldergrove Rotary Club and the Aldergrove Youth Soccer Club have already provided $50,000 in a cost sharing arrangement to have the site engineered and surveyed, and the Youth and Senior soccer clubs have raised an additional $100,000 for this project. A private donation of $30,000 was recently made, bringing us that much closer to our goal.

AYSC is a volunteer-driven organization. We are in need of volunteers to serve on the Executive and as Coordinators for various Club positions. The majority of the current long-serving Executive no longer have children playing in the Club, and several are moving on this year. Please consider attending the Club’s AGM and volunteering to serve the Club and the youth of Aldergrove.

Information on the duties of the Club’s various positions can be found in the AYSC Operating Manual (PDF) – see pp. 17-21 (Executive) and pp. 46-52 (Coordinators).

Developmental Teams: We’re still hoping that somehow the fields at Brown will be playable tomorrow (Saturday) – an email will go out to all parents and coaches, and a note posted to the website, about 8:20 am Saturday.

Traveling Teams: All Township of Langley fields are listed as Discretionary.
