The startup to AYSC’s 2018/2019 soccer season has seen a number of challenges, with a lack of volunteers, a new registrar, a significant drop in registrations across BC Soccer, several serious problems with AYSC’s online registration system, and a District website that’s less than intuitive. This week our registrar / Club manager let us know that she’s stepping down due to unforeseen family circumstances; we are in the process of bringing on a new individual to fill this role.
It’s been a bit of a perfect storm the last two and a half months – thank you for your continued patience as we get the season underway.
Developmental Teams (U5-U10)
The Developmental Fall Season Kickoff will take place Saturday, September 15 at Aldergrove Athletic Park. Please see http://www.aldergrovesoccer.com/2018/09/03/2018-developmental-fall-season-kickoff-saturday-september-15/ for age times and complete details. The Club will have a registration table at the field — if you have friends who would like to play this season who are not yet registered, bring them out!
Please note: If you (or a friend) have not yet registered, you can download and complete a form at http://www.aldergrovesoccer.com/paperform/ and bring it with you to the first sessions. CASH OR CHEQUE ONLY. You can also drop off your form and payment at the Aldergrove Chevron, 26390 Fraser Hwy., with “Attention: AYSC” on the envelope.
U11 Boys (Fraser Valley Youth Soccer Association)
A team meeting was held Monday night. If you were not in attendance at this meeting, please contact email@example.com.
Traveling Teams (U13-U18)
Traveling team coaches have received an email with season startup details:
- U14 Boys
- U13 Boys (U12 / U13)
- U17 Boys
- U18 Girls
If you haven’t already, you should expect to hear from your coach in the next day or so.
Refunds have been processed for most players on teams that were folded due to low registration numbers:
- U11 Girls
- U12 Girls
- U13 Girls
- U14 Girls
- U15 Girls
- U15 Boys
- U16 Boys
- U18 Boys
If you have not yet received a refund, we will be processing these as soon as possible, hopefully by the end of next week.
Every year AYSC puts out a call for parents, especially at the Developmental U5-U10 level, to step up and volunteer for various positions – team leaders, Executive, volunteer coordinator, fundraising coordinator, equipment manager, etc.
WITHOUT VOLUNTEERS, THE CLUB CANNOT RUN. THERE IS A VERY REAL POSSIBILITY THAT AYSC WILL FOLD IN THE NEXT YEAR IF MORE PARENTS DO NOT STEP FORWARD TO VOLUNTEER.
If you would like more information on volunteering with AYSC, please contact firstname.lastname@example.org.
